About Our Chorus
Upper Chesapeake Chorus (UCC) is a membership organization of female singers who meet regularly to rehearse, perform, socialize, learn, and have fun. The chorus sings four-part a cappella harmony in the Barbershop style and has 50 singers of all ages (20+ thru 70+) from all walks of life across the Greater Baltimore area. Our home base and rehearsal site is located at the top of the Chesapeake Bay in Harford County, Maryland, USA.
International, regional, and chorus leadership are committed to promoting this unique American artform through public performances and by providing members music instruction for both ensemble and individual vocal development.
Upper Chesapeake Chorus was chartered in September of 1975 as a member of Sweet Adelines International (SAI), a non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. Our chorus belongs to SAI Atlantic Bay Mountain Region 19.
We frequently perform at public and private events throughout our community. Not only is it a thrill for us to entertain, but performing is the primary way we promote and educate audiences about the Barbershop style of a cappella singing.
UCC is an achievement-oriented chorus, consistently ranked in the top five among the 27 choruses in Sweet Adeline Region 19 which includes Maryland, Delaware, and portions of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and West Virginia. UCC holds Regional Chorus Championships for 2011 and 2013.
Most choruses have members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. Upper Chesapeake Chorus is home to several quartets, and we are very proud of them!
