Tyler Horton is the Musical Director of the Upper Chesapeake Chorus. Tyler caught the “Barbershop Bug” at age 17 when he began singing with the Bay Country Gentlemen and the Chorus of the Chesapeake. During his time there, he sang in several quartets and served in many capacities of Chapter leadership including Associate Director and Music Director.
Tyler studied voice in college, then began his career in Music Ministry. He previously served St. Martin’s Lutheran Parish in Annapolis and is currently the Director of Music Ministry at St. Margaret Parish in Bel Air. He also coaches other vocal ensembles in and out of the Barbershop world.
Upper Chesapeake Chorus has always held a special place in Tyler's heart as his grandmother, Lorraine Horton, was a member. Becoming UCC’s director completes the circle!
Along with being an excellent vocalist, Tyler is an organist and pianist. When he's not making music, he likes to swing dance, visit Colonial Williamsburg, and research genealogy.
UCC is continually learning and growing with Tyler as director. He brings his knowledge, natural talent, and enthusiasm to every rehearsal.
